Tom Ford offers a look straight off the podium

The glamor is back, and it’s time to channel the sultry glitter and shine of the holidays. As the holiday season approaches, anticipation grows for the possibility of actual celebrations to come. Whether you’re excited, worried, or somewhere in between, there’s no denying that the world needs a little extra sparkle this year. In fact, the more, the better – that’s where Tom Ford Beauty comes in.

The designer’s dazzling makeup, paired with a collection of sequins, satin and towering heels, caused a stir when he walked the runway at New York Fashion Week in September. It’s the glamor factor we’ve long been waiting for, and with expert advice from makeup artist Sally O’Neill, here’s your chance to recreate the look yourself.

1. The skin

Let’s start with the essential base, a bright starting point for the glamorous look. “To create effortless, flawless skin, it’s important to use a primer first,” O’Neill tells us. “This illuminating primer combines the benefits of skin care and makeup in one product, hydrating skin while improving texture, so you shine before you even apply any other product.”

To amplify that radiance, makeup artists Tom Ford backstage at NYFW applied Shade and Illuminate Soft Radiance Foundation SPF 50, which comes in 40 shades and is enriched with hyaluronic acid for an extra dose of hydration. According to O’Neill, “It’s a miracle product to even out skin tone and give it volume.” It’s perfectly complemented by the new Shade and Illuminate Concealer, designed to correct blemishes with a soft, natural feel.

2. The eyes

But let’s not forget, this look is all about the eyes. That diffused, smoky mocha effect we saw on the runway made an electric statement – and thankfully, it’s easily recreated using key products.

“Start by sweeping the Eye Color Quad in 01 Golden Mink [the rich brown shade] on all eyelids and along the lower lash line. Keep mixing for a sensual effect, ”advises O’Neill. “Then use Eye Color Quad in 26 Leopard Sun [the shimmering golden hue] on the crease, tear duct and browbone to add lighting and really make your eyes pop.

Of course, the look wouldn’t be complete without a winged foil, but how do you get a Ford approved finish? “My advice is to get as close to the lash line as possible, then pull slowly towards the outer corner of the eye before lifting it slightly,” says O’Neill. The Eye Defining Pen makes creating the perfect winged effect incredibly easy – the double-ended liquid pencil allows for a spectrum of results, whether you use the darkest shade of black or the softer shade of brown. Finish with Extreme Eyelash Enhancer Mascara.

      3. The eyebrows

Tom Ford’s DNA harnesses the designer’s experience in architecture, so the focus on facial makeup is, as always, central to this look. “I’m all about brushing the eyebrows and filling them in so they look fluffy and full. Angular brows are great for adding dimension and symmetry to your face while enhancing your unique features, ”says O’Neill.

The Brow Sculptor is an awesome tool for doing just that with a calligraphy tip, which means you can customize every single eyebrow stroke. Use the supplied grooming brush and sharpener to perfect the shape.

      4. The lips

When it comes to the lips, O’Neill recommends creating the just kissed look by following the behind-the-scenes method. “Custom blend two matte colors together: Lip Color Satin Matte in 22 Seductive and Lip Color in 01 Spanish Pink. These are two sumptuous shades that leave you with an almost bare, peachy pink pout that really complements the eye makeup.

      5. The cheeks

Contouring is a vital step. O’Neill recommends artfully applying Shade and Illuminate Duo to certain areas of the face for a natural glow, as well as subtle definition. “I like to go under the cheekbones and work upwards,” she says of the face sculpting. “I then bring the color around the temples and sweep along the jawline as well as slightly under the chin.”

When it comes to the highlighter, placement is key. “Sweep the product onto the top of the cheekbones, add a little below the browbone, apply along the bridge of the nose and add a dab on your cupid’s arch.” These are the key points where the light naturally hits your face, helping to lift and define.

And the final touch? A touch of flush. “I would describe this as a vigorous, radiant heat,” says O’Neill of Shade and Illuminate Blush in 02 Explicit Flush, an exciting new launch for the brand. “As soon as you apply the two-in-one powder, the whole look comes to life – it’s fabulous.” Much like Tom Ford’s SS22 fashion collection, this beauty look is sleek, casual, but with a bit of sparkle.
