New Delhi: Bolstering its fashion portfolio, Myntra, the fashion-focused marketplace of Flipkart Group, announced on Monday that it has partnered with Zalora, a leading Southeast Asian online fashion platform, to bring the latter’s private labels to India.

Zalora operates a multi-brand e-commerce platform and has a presence in markets including Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Philippines and Indonesia.

In India, Myntra will offer a branded store dedicated to Zalora on Myntra-Mall. Zalora will list around 5,000 options on Myntra from its portfolio of internal brands such as Origin, Zalora Basics, Active, among others, the retailer announced on Monday. This will include women’s basics, formal dresses and tops in addition to men’s shirts and t-shirts.

With this association, Myntra reinforces its commitment to bring the best of global fashion to Indian consumers. The announcement marks the arrival of the first brand from the SEA region to be offered to Indian consumers, the retailer said.

Zalora, founded by Kinnevik AB and Rocket Internet in 2012, is part of Rocket Internet’s Global Fashion Group (GFG). Zalora is currently managed by Gunjan Soni, the former marketing director of Myntra. Global Fashion Group operates fashion e-commerce platforms in markets including Latin America, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Its fashion platform portfolio includes Dafiti, Lamoda, Zalora and The Iconic. In India, GFG operated online fashion site Jabong, before it was sold to Myntra in 2016.

The partnership with Myntra will help Zalora establish its footprint in the Indian fashion market and build brand awareness among millions of fashion lovers in the country, the two said in a statement on Monday.

“Through this partnership, we continue to cater to the growing base of fashion and trend seekers in India,” said Sharon Pais, Chief Commercial Officer of Myntra.

The association with Myntra reflects the evolving retail and e-commerce opportunities in Asia, said Gunjan Soni, CEO of Zalora Group. “Zalora’s commitment to connecting more people to the boundless world of fashion has reached beyond the shores of Southeast Asia and into India’s vibrant and exciting fashion consumers,” Soni said.

In Southeast Asia, Zalora sells brands such as Adidas, Mango, Abercrombie & Fitch in addition to beauty products. Its luxury section sells brands such as Coach, Burberry and Michael Kors.
