Marimekko and adidas announce a new limited edition

Finnish design house Marimekko and adidas, a global leader in the sporting goods industry, come together for a third limited-edition collaborative collection. The playful and expressive Spring/Summer 2022 collection continues to blend Marimekko’s printmaking artistry with adidas’ performance apparel expertise. The hero prints of the season are Unikko, Marimekko’s iconic floral print from 1964 by Maija Isola, as well as the Marimekko logo, which the company is lending as a print in a collaborative collection for the very first time.

The collection spans from sportswear to footwear, and like the previous two collections, the Spring/Summer 2022 collection embodies Marimekko and adidas’ shared commitment to implementing sustainable solutions, with key pieces from the collection made in part with recycled materials to help reduce environmental impact.

Our iconic Unikko floral print and Marimekko logo take on a whole new dimension with vibrant primary colors on adidas’ innovative sportswear. The third adidas x Marimekko collection will be available from April, on adidas.com and at selected adidas stores and retailers worldwide.

Limited edition brand collaborations increase the international awareness of the Marimekko brand and thus support Marimekko’s international growth strategy. Additionally, brand collaboration collections typically generate licensing revenue for Marimekko. The first part of licensing revenue from the collaboration with adidas was recognized as revenue for Marimekko in EMEA in the first quarter of 2021.
